AugExpedition Break in Amsterdam: “Saxenburger Life”
Aug
I completed my mission … an expedition break in Amsterdam for nine months.
I had been testing different lowrider bicycles and finally I chose one of them as my second expedition vehicle. I completed important business stuff and I earned some cash for the ongoing expedition and and I understood the magic of Yoga.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t close my important law case. But at least I could co-ordinate this case towards a soon end.
See above pictures of the time in Amsterdam. Many thanks to all my “Saxenburger Friends” in Amsterdam - what for an amazing time. Hope to see you all again somewhere else on our planet or even on different planets the coming years! And special Big Thank You to my photographers of the pictures above: Angela Pons, Liis Nõupuu, and Sergio González.
I will go back to my old expedition point to the city Porto, in Northern Portugal in Aug-2010. There I am going to prepare the second part of my ongoing bike journey from Portugal to Vietnam. My special training program will be integrated. Besides the fascinating energy of Yoga, I will learn to make fire on my new expedition machine and getting it tuned for Vietnam. (Pictures of this vehicle will follow soon). Besides the training, I want to enhance my project mission.
And for all partners, friends and guests who understand Portuguese, I am starting to enhance my homepage by an additional Portuguese website. In future, I’d like to write my blog posts also in Portuguese. It shall help me learning this language. But no concerns, my Portuguese level is still bad. Laughing & smiling accepted, but no judgement

SepStop in Aviles (Asturias, Northern Spain): Four unforgettable nice “city days”
Sep
Hey,
I arrived now in Aviles, a city in Asturias (state in Northern Spain). I stay at Hector´s place who is Spain´s CouchSurfing ambassador. I had unbelievable nice days with him and all his friends in town enjoying tandem tricycle rides, the city life, doing interviews for newspapers, etc.
Instead of talking about the cultural life in Aviles see the pictures made by Hector (Hobby photographer). These are more than thousand words.
PS:
Many thanks to Hector and Roberto, one of Hectors friends, providing me also financial support!

SepOn the road towards Santander (Cantabria) // City Life in Santander
Sep
I crossed now Cantabria on the Spanish coast staying one longer weekend in a bigger city Santander. I had four great days there, many thanks to all CouchSurfers and their friends.
Actually Santander is a city of more conservative, rich people as I have been told. Yeah, you can see it on infrastructure (well cared pedestrian ways), peoples fashion (less alternative looking people), and for sure the prices and cars.
Very interesting, we have been looking for some places for dancing / live music. Bad luck, except of few places, Santanders nightlife is marked by very quiet bars / pubs. But not to forget, it’s end of August, Santanders students are out of city enjoying their vacations!
I know Santander sounds like a boring city. However, beach feeling and meeting the right people helps enjoying Santander as me :o) I loved it!
My next stop will be in Cantabrias neighbourhood, the Spanish state Asturias. I will stop in the city Aviles (on the coast) on the next weekend.

AugSecond Webisode: Poland - First Crossed Country
Aug
Hey, that is our second Webisode, the video documentation of each country. It’s my time in Poland the first country which I crossed. But don’t wonder the second part of Poland is missing. I broke my camcorder short before News Years Eve :o(
Big big thanks to my team partners Roger and Jacqueline in London who have been producing the Webisode. (They spend many hours every week getting done these video documentations.)
And now, watch it and don’t laugh! It’s a drama not a comedy ;o)

AugHondarribia, small town in North-Eastern Spain // My first stop in Spain
Aug
Hondarrabia. a small Spanish town on the South-East coast – my first stop in Spain after crossing the French-Spanish border.
I visited the old town with my CouchSurfing Host Alex and his girlfriend. They showed me old monuments marked by the civil war between France and Spain in the 19th century.
One can see the very good maintained high defense wall and the holes by the gunfire of the French army.
I really enjoyed seeing the old town which represents a kind of Mid-Age feeling. Any commercial posters, shops are abandoned to maintain the nice historical atmosphere. Current news, Spanish archaeologists have been doing their work excavating new monuments below the ground.
Regarding Hondarrabia as city in Northern Spain, it belongs to the richer class of the Spanish citizen. One can see various national tourists visiting the city on weekends and enjoying mainly the beach & surfing atmosphere.
